Something like that...why, it could even find itself anywhere it exists. Even if it's somewhere or somewhen 'different'. After all, after all, the sun always rises.
So she gave up on the cruel world that took it all away from her. She created a new one. She thought that maybe, if she started over, she could have it all back.
It was the darkness, no longer satisfied with the world it'd swallowed. There was so much more out there. It was sick and sad. Everything it knew was gone. Revenge only went so far. The suffering of those who wronged it couldn't satisfy it forever. What already happened, happened.
There were only so many games to play, and ultimately, it was just subject to a game crueler than any it could even imagine.
The poor, lost little lamb, though? She became someone who didn't care about the rules of the game she was forced to play. She broke them. She broke them over, and over, and over, and when they mended themselves to stop her, she just kept fighting.
And the darkness loved it. Every second of her suffering, every second of her hopes being shattered. Sometimes, the darkness helped her. It liked seeing the rules smashed apart. Sometimes, it hindered her. Seeing her hurt was fun.
And eventually, when the sheep came close to her goal, the darkness didn't even care about the world it'd left behind. About everything it'd lost. It didn't want anything back. It didn't want revenge. It just wanted to see reality burn. It wasn't just darkness, anymore. It was the spirit of loss.
It remembered its name. It called itself Nafuna. It embraced the fire it once wielded, so long ago, and went back to playing the game it played before.
Little did it know, its heart saw the opportunity to break the rules once again. Nafuna knew that the sort of creature she'd become couldn't grow. Couldn't change. But she wasn't doing that. She was just rearranging what was already there.
She didn't really know what she was doing, and neither did the ones who helped her do it. The others who had arrived, broken and shattered. She just wanted to see them suffer.
And bit by bit, they snuffed out that flame. That little bit of light in the midst of the darkness. Some of them thought it'd kill her. So did she. It's what she wanted. She'd return to the darkness she came from, and rest alongside her world.
You were all wondering how that story ended, weren't you? That's why you're here. 'What's the point of all of this? Why is she doing this? What'll happen to us when it's over?'. You were probably wondering why it ended with a single press of a button.
Because that was it. That wasn't your story. You were there, you made choices, but you never had to see it through this far. You could have stopped, at any time. You could have just let go. But some of you had to prove you were above brutality. Some of you had to win. And those of you who just wanted to survive...thought struggling was the best option. There wasn't a lesson or a moral, and this was always the end. At least, for you. For everyone else...? Who knows.
This one looks forward to playing with you all! Oh! And remember, remember, remember! You've only got one shot, dears, so make the best of it! This one intends to. Everything that's about to happen...
49.
48.
Until it becomes something more. Until it becomes a constant reminder of what was.
47.
Something like that...why, it could even find itself anywhere it exists. Even if it's somewhere or somewhen 'different'. After all, after all, the sun always rises.
46.
Do the broken ones want to hear another story?
45.
It's about a poor, lost little lamb, who dreamed of being big and strong.
44.
One day, she met someone who made her feel like she was.
Someone who understood her.
Someone who entertained her.
Someone who believed in her.
Someone who made her feel loved.
43.
Someone who made her feel like maybe, just maybe, the world wasn't such a big, scary place.
42.
Maybe she didn't even have to be big and strong.
Maybe she could just be herself, and everything would turn out okay.
41.
And then, one day, that person was taken away from her.
40.
And she was scared.
And she was alone.
39.
She wasn't ready for it to end.
She wasn't ready to say goodbye.
38.
So she gave up on the cruel world that took it all away from her. She created a new one. She thought that maybe, if she started over, she could have it all back.
But she couldn't.
37.
So she tried changing it. Maybe, if things were different, she could have something similar.
But she couldn't.
36.
And eventually, in the shadowed corners of her mind, in those dark dreams she didn't think about, something started to remember itself.
35.
It made her do something unspeakable, when her insecurities brought her to her lowest point. Hehehe...it was beautiful, beautiful!
34.
33.
The poor, lost little lamb, though? She became someone who didn't care about the rules of the game she was forced to play. She broke them. She broke them over, and over, and over, and when they mended themselves to stop her, she just kept fighting.
32.
She lovingly created so many new and wonderful things.
She callously destroyed so many thriving and beautiful things.
Eventually it even looked like she would get what she wanted. She would undo what had been done.
31.
And the darkness loved it. Every second of her suffering, every second of her hopes being shattered. Sometimes, the darkness helped her. It liked seeing the rules smashed apart. Sometimes, it hindered her. Seeing her hurt was fun.
30.
And eventually, when the sheep came close to her goal, the darkness didn't even care about the world it'd left behind. About everything it'd lost. It didn't want anything back. It didn't want revenge. It just wanted to see reality burn. It wasn't just darkness, anymore. It was the spirit of loss.
29.
It grew stronger in the face of the light of hope.
It grew stronger in the face of the darkness of despair.
It could only be defeated by letting go. And who wants to do that?
28.
Because in the end, the darkness had been outplayed.
27.
26.
And then it, too, forgot what it was. The memory was still there, but it was buried deep in what was left of its heart.
25.
It remembered its name. It called itself Nafuna. It embraced the fire it once wielded, so long ago, and went back to playing the game it played before.
24.
Little did it know, its heart saw the opportunity to break the rules once again. Nafuna knew that the sort of creature she'd become couldn't grow. Couldn't change. But she wasn't doing that. She was just rearranging what was already there.
23.
She didn't really know what she was doing, and neither did the ones who helped her do it. The others who had arrived, broken and shattered. She just wanted to see them suffer.
22.
They recreated her world, so that she could remember.
They suffered for her, so that she could remember.
They resonated with her heart, and it remembered her.
21.
And bit by bit, they snuffed out that flame. That little bit of light in the midst of the darkness. Some of them thought it'd kill her. So did she. It's what she wanted. She'd return to the darkness she came from, and rest alongside her world.
20.
You were all wondering how that story ended, weren't you? That's why you're here. 'What's the point of all of this? Why is she doing this? What'll happen to us when it's over?'. You were probably wondering why it ended with a single press of a button.
19.
Wondering what happened after the end.
Wondering when, because you all knew it had to happen, the horrible villain would meet her end.
Wondering where it was that world was headed.
Wondering why, of all things, that's what it built up to.
18.
Well, well, well!
You don't need to wonder anymore.
17.
Who knows.
Who cares.
16.
But! It's okay! Because now, a new story starts. And this one is yours. Really, it's ours. Aren't you all tired of playing this game?
15.
Tired of having to prove everything?
14.
Tired of having to bleed yourselves dry to win?
13.
Tired of having to survive?
12.
Some of you have gone home. Some of you might stay here forever. How horrible, how horrible!
11.
The darkness doesn't intend to do either of those. The darkness is tired of playing this game, too. It's tired of losing.
10.
So!
We'll break everything. The rules, Kyriakos, our hopes, our dreams, reality itself...
9.
This long, long, long game will end, and there won't be a winner.
Nobody will have to lose anything ever again, because there won't be anything.
8.
You should be happy! After all...
7.
You'll be free.
6.
5.
4.
3.
2.
BUT IT REFUSED.
